چکیده

Since the first report in 1990, takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC) has been increasingly recognized as a novel form of nonischemic acute cardiomyopathy. It is an important differential in diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) due to its similar presentation. However, it distinguishes itself from an ACS in the fact that regional wall motion abnormalities extend beyond a single coronary vascular bed and are reversible, and epicardial coronary occlusion is absent (1). In TTC, left ventricular (LV) dysfunction can be remarkably depressed but recovers within a few weeks (2) in the vast majority of patients. This syndrome has been described by more than 75 individual descriptive names in the literature, emphasizing those disease features that were most impressive to individual investigators (3) (Table 1). Increased awareness about this syndrome has led to its incorporation into the American Heart Association classification of reversible cardiomyopathies (4,5). Pathogenesis of this syndrome is still not well understood, although physical and emotional stressors and mediation by pathologic sympathetic myocardial stunning are believed to play key roles. However, in an important minority of patients, a detailed personal history does not elicit an antecedent event (3).

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy following subarachnoid hemorrhage* Síndrome de takotsubo após hemorragia subaracnoidea

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy corresponds to a syndrome characterized by a transient myocardial dysfunction affecting the left ventricular apex that classically occurs after major physical or emotional stress (also called “broken heart syndrome” or “stress-induced cardiomyopathy”). The author describes the case of a patient with takotsubo cardiomyopathy induced by subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy following severe tetanus

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is considered a neurogenic heart disease resulting from impaired autonomic function and is known to be associated with various neurological and medical conditions. To our knowledge, although tetanus is frequently accompanied by autonomic instability, there has been no report of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy in patients with tetanus. Here we describe a patient with Takotsubo ...

Variable conduction system disorders in takotsubo cardiomyopathy: a case series.

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is an acute cardiac condition characterized by transient systolic dysfunction of the left ventricular apex and mid-ventricle. Documented EKG presentations for Takotsubo cardiomyopathy include ST-segment elevation or T-wave inversion. These EKG presentations are included in the diagnostic requirements for Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. This paper presents two cases of atypica...

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is also called stress induced cardiomyopathy or the broken heart syndrome. It is most commonly triggered by emotional stress causing transient apical and/or apical left ventricular systolic dysfunction in the ab...

Torsades de Pointes in Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy with QT Prolongation

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, or stress-induced cardiomyopathy, is characterized by reversible left ventricular apical ballooning associated with emotional or physiologic stress, mimicking acute myocardial infarction in the absence of significant coronary artery disease at angiography. Although the prognosis for patients with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is relatively good, it is reported to be associa...
